INTRODUCTION TO WITCHCRAFT

The Power of the Word
In mastering the art of witchcraft, it is crucial to be able to keep your Word. The Power of the Word in witchcraft is always based on the fact that the Word should align with the Truth, (Rot, the World Law) - to the World Law. If our Word is true, if it is a part of the World Law, then it possesses invincible power. To ensure that the Word has the power to manifest in the external world, start by consistently keeping your given Word under all circumstances. A person is only as valuable as their Word. If you fail to honor your Word, not only do you betray the person to whom you gave your Word, but most importantly, you betray yourself.

Personal Decision
A person who cannot be true to themselves, their own decisions, will never attain Strength. The Ancestors will turn away from them, and their life will be filled with weakness and wrong. The mocking attitude of people in traditional society towards those who cannot follow their decisions, their Word, is well reflected in folk tales and tales:
“Erema, where are you going? I won’t tell. Eremushka, darling, tell me? To town. Erema, take me with you! I won’t. Eremushka, darling, take me? Sit down. Eremushka, buy me a gingerbread! I won't. Eremushka, darling, buy it! I will.” (From I.D. Fridrikh's collection "Russian folklore in Latvia")

Currents of Power
From the standpoint of the Slavic Tradition, the material world is spiritualized because everything we see around us, all objects in the external world, are manifestations of the actions of various Divine Forces. The lightning in the sky is a manifestation of the power of Perun. The light of the Sun is the power of Dazhbog. Furthermore, each stone, each tree, and everything else in our manifested world also carries the power of one or another of the Gods or spirits. Similarly, different events are manifestations of the interaction of Divine Forces. This is why our ancestors utilized various omens, signs, and folk customs in which the actions of the Divine Forces through events in the external world were interpreted. These collections of omens are essentially an attempt to systematize and understand the principles underlying the movement of Power Currents and the influence they have on humans. To learn how to directly observe these Currents of Power, one must learn to see in harmony with the Slavic Tradition. This doesn't require opening a third eye or learning to "work on astral energy through chakras." It involves removing obstacles in consciousness that hinder us from perceiving the world as it truly is, not just as a material reality but also as endless streams of Power connecting all things in our world.
The secret lies in the fact that every person constantly perceives the world not only as matter but also as Power at every moment of their life. The challenge is that not everyone realizes this. They don't realize it because their perception is solely focused on objects in physical reality. Look at the world around you and listen to yourself - what do you hear? When you look at any object in the external world, your consciousness instantly determines what is in front of you, you instantly categorize: this is a tree, this is a stone, and so on. This happens continuously - every person describes their surrounding world in every second. It's the way humans exist in the human society. And for this model of the world that we continually create, our mind is responsible. The problem is that there is something beyond the mind's ability to comprehend, extending beyond our typical realm of describing the world. After all, any description of the world is just a description and not the actual world! And this description burdens our perception to the extent that as a result, we only see the "reality" that fits within our description.
Ordinary, formal description of the world is absolutely necessary for people to coexist in society, but if we want to practice witchcraft, it becomes an insurmountable barrier to directly perceive the Flows of Power. Only by stepping beyond the limit of rational description and learning to Contemplate the world in a state of Inner Silence can we see and realize the inner essence of things. The basis for learning here are two practices: Listening to the world and Seeing the world. Both of these exercises are best started at dusk.

Listening to the World
Begin by listening to the sounds of the surrounding world: the rustling of the wind, the cries of birds, the voices of people, the noise of passing cars, and so on. Do not mentally describe or define what you hear, just listen. Initially, your own thoughts and desires may distract you, but if you show willpower and persistence, in this contemplative state, while listening to the sounds of the surrounding world, you will suddenly feel that behind these sounds lies a certain reality, the sounds carry information that is usually not consciously perceived. At some point, the sounds of the space will begin to transform into a vibration, a sound of the Movement of Power, which is difficult to describe in words but can be understood through feelings. Through sensing this vibration, you will begin to feel the movement of Power Currents. Furthermore, after some time, these sounds will start to convey specific information to you, allowing you to foresee upcoming events in your life.

Seeing the World
The same as in the previous exercise, here you need to contemplate the space. Do not focus on specific objects; let your gaze freely wander through space without pausing anywhere in particular. These practices were passed down to our time as part of popular divination practices. Here is a description of similar practices from M. Zabylin's book "Russian people, their customs, rituals, traditions, superstitions, and poetry":
“Eavesdropping. Stoglav says the shout was an ancient popular superstition, that fortune-tellers listen under the windows of other people's houses, and based on the words they hear, whether it's a cheerful or unpleasant conversation, they predict a pleasant or dull life for themselves, a quarrelsome or affectionate husband.”
“Divination at the crossroads at midnight. Girls go to the crossroads, and having each of them wished for their future groom, draw a circle and stand inside it, listening. When they hear the sound of bells, laughter, or joyful singing, they conclude they will marry. If they hear crying or mournful singing, it means death!”
From the archives of the folklore laboratory at RGGLU in 1996:
“A woman here was telling, she used to go when she was young to draw a circle (for divination ritual - editor's note) that was before the war... She told that she drew for one guy. So, the accordion started playing and the sleigh bells, as if the horses were coming. He got married. As for another guy, well... they drew and she heard it, like someone cutting planks with an ax. He was killed at war. So it means a coffin. And there's also Sherikova's Seregina's mother, she went, and she died too... What did she think she heard? Just like that ax.”
“I went to listen on Epiphany... at the crossroads (crossroad - editor's note). Water flowed from two roads and one crossed them, and at this place, we sat down, women listened. In forty-five, during winter, yes, on the Epiphany. The war in forty-five ended in May. She made a wish: let's sit down and listen, if we hear what, a loud noise like a car or crying - the war won't end this year yet, but if we hear a song, then the war should end. She drew a circle around us, she knew the words to start. Five people sat down, she said, close your eyes, she drew a circle around us so nobody could hear anything else. Suddenly, the accordion played, it was already midnight - everyone was asleep, there was no one around. The accordion kept getting closer and closer and it played. She jumped; dibs on listening. Everything fell silent. We got up, and there was no one around. And the war ended in forty-five.”

Rhythm: The Wheel of Existence
Nature, and indeed the entire Universe, have their own rhythms of existence. Day turns into night, spring turns into summer, life is followed by death, and death is followed by new life. The Earth, the Moon, the Sun, all planets have their distinct rhythms. Humans are no exception. Alertness turns into sleep, movement turns into rest, even the heartbeat has its own rhythm. In Slavic Tradition, this Rhythm of Existence is called the Wheel of Life. And all rhythms - the rhythms of the human body, the Earth, planets, and galaxies - exist not separately but in perfect harmony, creating, so to speak, a "unified pulsation of the Universe."
But in our modern times of Nanichestvo, in the conditions of modern city life, the natural rhythms of human beings are disrupted, leading people to Discord, to various mental and physical illnesses. Following the rhythms of the Universe allows a person to live in Harmony with Nature, to be healthy both physically and mentally. Understanding these rhythms enables one to feel the Forces' Currents, which are organized and arranged precisely by rhythms. When a person synchronizes their body's activities with the rhythms of Nature, it allows them to heal from many illnesses and maintain health in the long run. Rhythm also plays a significant role in spiritual practice; all practical exercises yield results only with regular practice, and one's practice should be aligned with the rhythms of Nature. The rhythm of the human body's activities is oriented towards Earth's rhythms, i.e., the rhythm of the day.
A person constantly lives in a cycle of day-work (tension, actions, Yar), night-rest (repose, relaxation, Mar). If a person follows this rhythm, their body remains healthy. When this natural rhythm is disrupted, the body begins to weaken and subsequently falls ill. This is clearly seen in the example of people working at night. It is important to learn how to properly observe the rhythm of tension and relaxation, which lays the foundation for Harmony with Nature. In Slavic Tradition, it is advised to go to sleep after sunset (but no later than 9-10 pm) and wake up at sunrise. The best sleep is considered to be the so-called "black sleep," that is, sleep until midnight. Sleep is divided into three "spins." Spin - a part of sleep from the first fall asleep to the first awakening. The first spin is from the evening to the first roosters, the second spin is until the second roosters, the third spin is until the third roosters. During the first spin, it is better to sleep on the left side, the second spin - on the right side, the third spin - lying down flat.
(see, for example, M.D. Toren. Russian Folk Medicine and Psychotherapy. St. Petersburg. 1994 p. 191)

Nutrition
Nowadays, we mainly eat dirty food, made with dirty feelings and thoughts. Such food pollutes not only the body but also the consciousness. This kind of food almost never satisfies, a person eats more and more, yet still feels hungry.
The main criteria for nutrition: after eating, one should not feel heaviness and drowsiness; good food should leave a person feeling light and should not require any special cleansing and neutralization practices after consumption. Food should bring strength, not make a person sick.
The same applies to water. It is best to drink either thawed water or spring water. Spring water can be Living or Dead. Dead water cleanses the body, while Living water imbues it with strength. From personal experience and experiences of acquaintances, I can say that after consistently drinking spring water (note - from different sources, not just one! Drinking from the same source will not provide any benefit), after some time, you can begin to sense where the living water is and where the dead water is. So, I believe no special exercises are necessary.
There is also lunar water and solar water. Lunar water is obtained by placing a bowl of water outside overnight, so that the Moon's reflection is visible in it. The water should be removed before sunrise, that is, before sunlight touches it. The qualities of this water depend on the phases of the Moon. Solar water - this is my own term. Among traditional healers, I have not encountered this name. Healers refer to this type of water as Holy.
The traditional method is as follows: during sunrise, people go outside and start transferring water from one vessel to another, 40 times, so that the sunlight is reflected in the stream of water. This water carries the power of Yar, but depending on the phase of the Sun, there will be specific characteristics.

Breathing
Within the framework of the Slavic Tradition, specific practices focused solely on working with breathing have not been preserved to the present day. Breathing practices were incorporated into voice work: humming and incantations. However, with some justification, it can be assumed that some separate breathing exercises did exist. Ethnographer V.I. Kharitonova writes that healers, before beginning incantations, usually take a few deep breaths and exhales. Here is an excerpt from one of Kharitonova's articles describing a healing ritual:
"At first, she stands next to the sick person, sitting or lying in front of her, and tries to enter the state she needs. After taking a few deep breaths and clasping her hands on her stomach or behind her back, Aunt Nastya, slightly bending towards the patient, starts whispering the incantation text with a detached look, sometimes swallowing some words. The rapid speech with rare deep breaths soon takes on a kind of wave-like rhythm. She herself also sways rhythmically."
V.I. Kharitonova. Healing with Incantations. "Folk Creativity" 1993, No.7. P.21.
This example shows that breathing exercises in the Slavic Tradition were part of voice work. After all, intonation and rhythm of chanting a particular sound regulate the duration of inhalation and exhalation.
In general, one should start with restoring natural breathing; with natural healthy breathing, the exhale is always slightly longer than the inhale.
We only do incomplete, short exhales when painful areas, muscle spasms - what is called "naus" and "khary" in Slavic tradition (remember: "cramp the khary." Khary is a muscular mask that corresponds to our mask - our social role) - interfere with the body and consciousness.
Running and swimming are the best ways to restore natural breathing. If one engages in either activity regularly, no specialized exercises will be needed. It is also important to monitor your exhale - ensuring that the exhale is 2-3 seconds longer than the inhale. An incomplete exhale hinders the distribution of energy throughout the body gained during inhalation.

Imagination
The word "imagination" comes from the word "image". In other words, to imagine - is to create images. The same as visualization. It is interesting to note such wordplay: to imagine - means to dream. And in Old Russian and Old Slavic, there is an expression: "to create dreams", which translates as "to cast a spell". In the Russian North, sorcerers were called dreamers. From this, we can conclude that our ancestors knew very well the Power of what is now called "creative visualization" by esoterics.
